Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Life is motion. Forwards, backward, left, right. It matters very little where you see yourself, because the tides of reality are so very rarely under your control.
But life is motion. And each of us must choose how to swim, and when to swim, and when to let the tide simply carry us where we must be.
Perhaps, I think to myself, I should resist the tide, and build my strength and endurance? Or perhaps, I should chart my course with the tide, working still, but making progress in my chosen direction?
Better than these, maybe, would be to climb aboard the ship of another man’s labor, and let it elevate me, for though I must work too, the ship will move me much faster than swimming.
It is difficult to see what the future holds. I cannot discern for myself the nature of my journey, but I know that I may not remain in the place I am. For to remain in the sea is to drown, and so one must always be moving towards a shore, however distant.
So I see myself anywhere but here.
