The Little Things

What details of your life could you pay more attention to?

If you ignore small things that are causing trouble, they turn to big things that will devour you.” -Jordan Peterson

Small details add up. And when you ignore too many for too long, it’s a big problem. Whether it’s finances, mindset, environmental, or health, there are always things you can pay more attention to.

1. How Are You Feeling?

Noting how you’re feeling at any point can help you make valuable course corrections in your mind. Simply acknowledging an emotion and then doing something to resolve that feeling can change your whole outlook on the day.

2. What Are You Spending?

Identifying all the little purchases that are draining your accounts is a simple thing you can do to bring your finances under a little more control. Are you spending your money because it’s habit, or because you need or will enjoy a certain purchase? I’m not opposed to a good cup of coffee, or something else enjoyable, but when the purchases are out of control, it can put you in a hard place.

3. What Can You Do To Order Your Environment?

Sometimes, the little changes in your home or work environment make all the difference. Clothes sitting next to the laundry basket? Drop them in. A dish sitting on the counter? Put it in the dishwasher real quick. Small things like this take up your attention, so cleaning them up when you initially notice them gives you a little win to check off your list.

4. Have You Had Water?

Often, we neglect the simple things in our health. While it’s good to exercise, and it’s good to eat right, we often forget to drink enough water, to stretch, and to use posture. Simple things like this can make all the difference in your daily life.
