The Pain of Doing Nothing

Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

I feel dull. My eyes are glazed over. I’m exhausted. I’ve done nothing. And I do nothing.

The cost of a truly lazy day is this hazy, dull sensation, which can definitely drag you down. I don’t like doing nothing. Specifically, the kind of mindless nothing that involves mindless scrolling and little mental or physical engagement.

When I choose to take a day off, it’s important that I choose what I will or won’t do with care. Firstly, it’s important to me to ensure that all of my chores are done, so as to allow for genuine relaxation.

Secondly, I never want to be sitting around, tuned out. Mentally purposeless. I’m always engaging in some artistic or outdoors activities, or a bit of reading and writing.

This not only helps me feel rested and at peace, but also helps me feel productive and mentally sharp.

Ultimately, a “lazy” day doesn’t make me feel lazy because I don’t bask in unproductive behaviors. Always engage your mind and body, and your days will feel productive no matter what.
