What skill would you like to learn?
“The ultimate value of life depends upon awareness and the power of contemplation rather than upon mere survival.” -Aristotle
Being aware is an aspect of focus. It a skill that many can benefit from learning, as it opens up the world to you in new and unique ways.
You can break your awareness down into a number of different classifications; Situational awareness, emotional awareness, spiritual awareness, environmental awareness, interpersonal awareness, etc.
And awareness is, in its essence, to have your eyes opened to the world around you. To truly see, acknowledge, and process the things you are seeing. Patterns become more clear, colors more vibrant, emotions more apparent.
The training of this skill involves simply choosing to adopt awareness in all things. To open your eyes and look at the environment around you. The people, their facial expressions, their eyes. The decorative centerpiece on the table in front of you. The plants buzzing with insect life in your yard.
When you take in this information, you can start to selectively focus in on some of them, so that you can broaden your focus on that narrow section. this allows you to understand the world and people around you even better.
If that’s not worth pursuing, I don’t know what is.
