Ferrocerium Rod (Firestarter)

In the world of firestarting,one of the most, if not the most common method of bushcraft firestarting seems to be the Ferrocerium Rod. This is a firestarting tool comes in the form of a long shaft of ferrocerium alloy, a mixture of iron and cerium, and a striker made of some kind of metal. The striker may be included with the rod, or could be a tool you carry with you, such as a knife. With properly prepared material and a good ferrocerium rod, you should be able to start a fire in one strike during dry weather.
